Your Review:: Insanity sauce is not for beginners. One of my co-workers brought a bottle of Dave's Ultimate Insanity sauce to work because majority of us like our foods spicy. I observed how my co-workers used this sauce with their foods; some poured it on their food like it was ketchup while others poured a dab on their plate and diluted it with juices of whatever foods they were eating it with. Friday is BBQ day at work so we grilled steaks and stuff. I poured a small amount on my plate like I would with A-1 sauce or ketchup and with my first piece of steak I dipped it into the Insanity sauce. Little did I know my co-workers were all watching me. I chewed the steak and swallowed and immediately found myself in a world of pain! Beads of sweat was running down my face, tears came out of my eyes, my scalp started to tingle, and my throat fell like hot fiery acid was traveling down it. I could not utter a word as I was struggling to breath. Drinking water gave temporary relief and I drank a lot of water until the burning sensation in my mouth and throat subsided. Unfortunately my co-workers got a laugh out of it and I could not finish my meal. Despite this horrible experience I really liked the taste of Insanity sauce, it sort of has a hickory taste to it. If I can ever get acclimated to this sauce I'd use it again. - cmiamt

One Sunday during a family gathering, I watched my sister-in-law pour this sauce (like ketchup) on a hamburger. I asked her if it was significantly hotter than Dave's original. She said not much and had no adverse reaction. I followed suit with the same liberal amount on my burger (probably about 2 teaspoons full) and made it about 3/4 of the way through my burger before having to put it down. It was too much.
I don't measure my manhood by how much I can withstand - I like my taste buds too much and I get the hiccups if something is too hot.
I got a bit in my eye (from the burger) and it burned for 20 minutes.
Definitely use this stuff with caution and I wouldn't recommend it to ANY beginner. Work up your tongue first.
The taste is not spectacular but that's not what this sauce is about, really. It's about the burn. I don't own any at the moment, but will buy some as my current supplies dwindle. - Burn Junkie

Your Review:: Bought it on a whim when heading out camping. The first morning we made scrambled eggs and I sprinkled 5 - 10 drops over th eggs. I made it about 1/4 the way through it and had to drink 2 glasses of water and 2 of milk....was still feeling it!!! The kids thought it was hilarious. Your Review:: This felt like it was the death of me, i'd had a few, and was dared to down a tablespoon full, liking hot food and not one to back down from a challenge i accepted. it tasted ok, and for a few minutes i was fine, then suddenly i began to sweat insanely and severe stomach cramps kicked in! it felt like my stomach was being burnt way, i gagged and was sick for about 45 mins, feeling absolutely awful, a bit more sick and serious pain for a lot longer. my eyes were red and lips were swollen! Mates thought i should go to hospital. after several hours lots of bread and milk, it finally calmed down! but no joke i've never experienced anything that awful in my life, genuinly thought i might be dying, sounds melodramatic, but trust me! be v careful, not a great dare, add to food... drop wise! not a table spoon in the mouth with no food! x - scotty

Your Review:: My Husband has it in our fridge for the past year. I had tasted in with a toothpick and it was hot with not that much taste. Well, I really learned my lesson, when an idiot in a store put it out to be sampled with pretzels!!! No sign or anything. I took a BIG sample on a pretzel and suffered for 30 min afterwards in my mouth and 3 hours later in my stomach... I have yet to see what it'll do further down ;) Unfortunately I was in SO much pain, that I couldn't go back and yell at the stupid employee for the dip!!! Your Review:: I ate 5 wings smothered in it on a dare. I had never even tasted the stuff before. You know how generally hot wings, the faster you eat em the less pain you get... Well i went for that approach. got them all down, and within 30 min was throwing up, and having diarreaha like crazy. I was at work, and the pain was so bad I got confused and was naked in the bathroom considering calling 911 to have my stomach pumped. I ended up leaving work and going home. Your Review:: I knew it would be really hot, but didn't think it would be a huge leap in hotness over the first insanity sauce......yeah I was wrong. Just trying it with a toothpick made my eyes water, and my nose run. When I got home, I had two huge drops on a popcorn kernel, and I think the ability to have children has been removed from my body. BTW, I LOVE hot stuff. A buddy of mine thought he was tough S--T, and drank a capfull. I looked over at him, and he looked possessed, like Linda Blair from The Exorcist. Your Review:: I'm addicted to this stuff. I absolutely love it. My wife says it is going to kill me, but I can't help but eat it. I guess I've developed a kind of immunity to it (dead taste buds?), because I typically eat it straight now...either plain (by itself) or as a dipping sauce for chips. Be sure to have something on your stomach before eating this sauce, though. Like other reviewers on this site, I've been doubled over on the floor on a few occasions when I've forgotten to do this...although that still doesn't stop me from coming back for more. THIS STUFF IS HOT! it has a decent flavor(hard to tell with flames coming out your mouth) it is good if you put a drop into another type of hot sauce. by itself it packs a Knockout punch. the heat comes very quick and seems to intensify for some minutes. spreads throughout your mouth(whatever it touches) and yes ... you feel it on the way down.. =-X but it gets the job done.. - +D

Your Review:: I bought this sauce about 3 years ago. I think there is about 2 teaspoons taken from it being that it is hotter than lava. People on here saying it's not hot are trying to be cool. I can eat hot peppers by the pound and one splash of this stuff on your tongue will have you crying and choking etc. This stuff is no joke. Anyone using this should respect it. Your Review:: In small amounts, like the end of a tooth pick or fork, this sauce has very little burn and an O.K. flavor. In larger amounts, like a quarter size amount in a medium size bowl of spaghetti, it starts with almost no burn and builds to a decently hot (but not quite uncomfortable) feeling by the end of the meal. The flavor doesn't seem to harm the flavor of the dish. In larger amounts, it builds quite quickly to an un-enjoyable (for me at least) level. On the whole it's a good sauce, if used sparingly. - Carter

Well he let me have the hottest stuff he would sell a Gringo.I got back stateside and discovered this website, ordered a bottle and had it delivered to work The heat level is high, don't know about the taste,though. Much hotter than the stuff I got in Mexico. Added to some good Lexington-style Barbeque, it makes an out-of-this world sandwich, but you start with a drop and work your way up. Your Review:: i'm not usually one for spicy food, i prefer other flavours but when someone bet me i couldnt swallow a desertspoon of insanity sauce i took that bet because basically it seemed like easy money and i wasn't that wrong. sure a drank nearly a litre of milk in 5 minutes and my nose and ears began to burn, but when else will that happen? it was a great experience i advise everyone to have, if only to earn a few bucks.

Couldn't finish it at home (too dangerous) so took it to work. had to dilute it with some sweet chilli sauces (10:1) but still had a job getting halfway through the bottle after 6 months. Eventually we dared a guy to dip a sensitive body part into some of the diluted sauce for £20. He agreed but he couldn't walk for a week. I was visiting Indianapolis when I first tasted this "furnace in a bottle". I had a bowl of Chilli and poured Dave's potion over it as if I was using Tabasco. I took 2 mouthfuls and realised something was going very nasty inside my mouth. I had to leave my table and walk around outside with my mouth open and drank a litre of water.
It was the hottest sauce I had ever tasted.
I am a big Vindaloo eater (Indian Curry), and am able to handle a Phall, but that is nothing when compared to Daves Insanity.
If you like stuff hot - try some - but take heed of what people say here, handle with extreme care.
One hell of an experience.
I still use it, but in minute amounts.

I do not like dave's sauces for taste as a rule, but this one was mediocre in that regard, the real treat to dave's is the price/heat ratio when using it to mix into other sauces. Where the actual lack of a crafted taste can be a benefit. I rate taste knowing the heat level as well, I have tried the source (closest thing to a spiritual exp I've ever had) and consider what kind of scoville they are attempting to compliment. I really wish dave would develop some better taste buds, and get out their like blair and make something interesting at each heat level. - Astro Boy

*Shudder* I picked this up some months ago whilst visiting Toronto, along with some other tasty hot sauces such as Da Bomb Beyond Insanity, Blair's After Death, that sort of thing... Thought the other two were delicious, hotter than anything I had tasted up until then... And then I put a nice dollop onto a veggie dog and mowed it back... So hot I thought I would vomit before the burn went away. Had nothing on hand to quench the fire, I could only suffer. Anyway, as for taste, I can only taste tomato in there, I guess that flavour wasn't in the plan when Dave concocted this, he probably felt that extra ingredients would take up the space of precious pepper extract. And it's so full of it that it's a real good price for the amount of extract included. Surely this is a money loser for Dave. As I mentioned, it's REALLY hot. Mouth blasting, ass rupturing hot. I have about 20 hot sauces open and in regular use in my fridge right now, including many 10+ sauces, and I think that I'll finish each one of them before I finish my Dave's Ultimate Insanity. - Andee

I made some homemade salsa and "spiked" it with some Dave's and set it out for the guys. One of my unsuspecting friends scooped a huge amount on his chip and immediately hiccupped for hours. Anyone who rates this sauce as medium or says this sauce isn't hot is either: A) Lying B) Living on the Sun! A few people have rated this as medium heat or low heat. I'd really like to see what they consider hot. Remember, Dave makes a range of products. Some of these reviews seem to be for other Dave's products, many of which aren't necessarily that hot. If you like heat, you will like this. It is not timid, despite a few comments to the contrary! If you want more kick, put acid on your tongue!! Don't know about the taste, this one's more about the heat. I put a drop in a little tomato soup, to test it out, haven't opened the bottle since. Straight-up the sauce is very bitter, nasty really. What makes this sauce great is that it is very pliable, when added to just about anything the flavor completely disappears, leaving just the heat. I add some to the ketchup before it goes on the burger, or into the taco meat at the end of cooking. add some to anything the grocery store marks "HOT!!!" and it finally will be. I learned and re-learned some lessons with this one. 1) Always sample on a toothpick 2) Never get an unknown substance on your hands 3)Start small an work up 4) don't sample on an empty stomach. I made the mistake of putting a dab on the back of my hand and licking it off. HUGE mistake. Felt good in the mouth, but I had an empty stomach and within a few minutes was doubled over in pain. Drank some milk on and off over the next 2 hours and it finally went away and stayed away. Dumbest thing was getting it on my hands, I knew better. Took two days to finally wear and wash off, to the point I could touch my eyes and other "sensitive" areas of my body. Putting my contact lenses in the next day was a real treat! Also must have got some of those little scovilles on the outside of the bottle. Every time I picked it up I would re-contaminate my hands, finally wrapped the thing in paper towells and taped them on. All in all a great hot sauce that needs to be treated with respect. Do not allow anyone but a true chili head to sample this, the result will probably not be as "funny" as you had intended. - Buck

I'm not sure what people have been smoking, but this is not hot. The only heat I felt was when I splashed some on my lips, they burned for about 15 minutes, but it was almost painless. People if you think this is spicy don't use it; that simple. I've had many hotter sauces, Dave's Ultimate Insanity Sauce, yeah the only insane thing about this is it supossed to be hot, but just isn't. - Hoppe

sampled dave's on the end of a toothpick at a french quarter store. first thought was that it tasted like motor oil. second later my face is on fire. somehow must have traveled up my sinuses right into my eyes. lady that was running the store takes me into the alley behing store and helps me flush out eyes with water in a laundry sink. was basically blinded for several minutes. this stuff is bad news. - burnedbad

all i can say,is that like others i have met(very very few)i am constantly searching for a hotter sauce.and i am never satisfied.BUT daves is by far the hottest frigg'n thing out there...and i yet to try the seceret reserve which is packaged in a coffin,and is three times hotter than the insanity sauce(your a damned sadist daave,and i love it!)..all others step aside,until the sun decends upon us,this is as hot as it's gonna get!! thx dave - trevor

Oh Boy. Let me 1st start of by saying I'm one of those Persons who says that there's no sauce hot enough for me.. Well,?? Until now.. The 1st time I tried it with a pretty good amount on a chip. Big Big mistake!! That was some extreme fire!! Today was the 2nd time I tried it, and I added just a little drop in my chili, And I had to sweat through it.. This sauce packs some extreme heat.. This stuff has some serious KICK! The label says to refrigerate after opening but I can't imagine what bacteria or mold could grow in this stuff if you didn't. When I first got this stuff I added a few drops to a bowl of chili and I was expecting to need more. I was wrong. I recomend adding some to your favorite salsa to give it an extra kick or anything else for that matter. - Steve

Heard about this stuff and bought a bottle for the typical friend that "nothing is hot enough for". I warned him when I gave it to him but he ignored it. He put some on leftover hashbrowns from breakfast as if it was tabasco sauce. BIG MISTAKE. He was in pain for over 20 minutes and had trouble breathing. I don't know who's stomach hurt more. I initially tried this by putting about a teaspoon into a bowl of chile. I found it to be very hot, by the way. I now put a table spoon of this stuff in salsa that I buy from the local food market...it makes their hot salsa XXXXXXXXXXXXXHot!!! I would highly recommend this to anybody that loves their food to bite them back! The only thing that you have to watch out for is the quantity you use, and I say this not because it's hot but because it will domintae the taste of the food. Too much of this sauce makes it taste like you're eating a plate of pepper skins. - David

First, be sure you read and understand the warning label before you try it. This stuff is really hot. I tried about 1/4 ml with some rice. The initial taste is good: tomato and a touch of onion, but almost immediately you get hit by it's powerful hotness. I started with 1 pint of milk and continued with 2 yogurts aver a period of about 20 minutes. Again, be aware, this is really hot stuff.. - Bob

This stuff is awsome! It adds great flavour and a nice amount of heat! You should use it rather sparingly though. As in small drops at a time. My stepmother used it while i wasnt around and poured 1/2 the neck of the bottle into a HUGE stew. No one in the house could eat it except myself (they all got up from the table screaming) and i had to eat it very slowly. That was pretty funny :-)
