Your Review:: Sounded great when advertised. Bought a bottle, and was pretty disappointed with the heat and flavor. Plus, it is loaded with sodium. I thought it was a hot sauce, but seems like more of a brush on thin BBQ sauce. - Scott D

Your Review:: It's a little mild, though it would probably be hot for many people (I like habaneros for their citrusy flavor, if that tells you anything). That said this is one of my favorite sauces. Tangy without being sour, which is a problem with too many hot sauces. Has a great complex balance of flavor, with the smoky chipotle taste dominating. Works great for grilling meats, marinating tofu, or as a dipping sauce. - Murple

Virginia Gentleman Bourbon Chipotle Hot Sauce: Virginia Gentleman comes in a great package with a nice lable & tag that would make it a good gift.

My first impression upon opening it was its unpleasant vinegar-laden aroma, but fear not: you can't taste the vinegar at all. Although I'm not a whiskey fan, I enjoyed the prominent earthy, woody taste that the bourbon added. I was surprised to detect a hint of sweetness since it contains no sugar or fruit... I guess it comes from the bourbon. The sauce isn't as smoky-tasting as I expected (considering it contains chipotle flakes), but it is quite well-balanced.

Overall, I am very pleased. I think it would be a PERFECT replacement for A1 sauce, and could easily be poured over any meats. - Karl

We found this wonderfulsauce while visiting myrtle beach, sc. Me being a "HOT HEAD" and all we stopped by the st. peppers establishment at "Boardwalk at the Beach". I taste tested many sauces before purchasing this particular one, and fell "in-love" immediately! I purchased one bottle and should of purchased a case because it lasted only 1 week in my household! I finally found the sauce of my "DREAMS!" THANK YOU!! - cheryl richards
